I spent the day looking at castles in Gonder. For dinner, I unwittingly ate some raw Ethiopian mystery meat. I killed any potential danger by drinking tej, aracki and many Dashen beers!
We went to a local bar with live music and watched 'shoulder dancing', the traditional dance of northern Ethiopia. It sort of looks like the funky chicken but with electricity running through the shoulders. It's a somewhat bird-like movement for men, for women it involves motion that causes the breasts to be flung wildly! I've never seen anything quite like it! I tried to figured out the moves, but I couldn't grasp how my shoulders could make those frenetic shakes. Google it, Westerners!
